I was listening to the radio the other day and I heard a new song by Tim McGraw. The name of the song is “Always Stay Humble and Kind.” My wife said, “I wonder if kids today think these line are corny or if they have real meaning. Is this old fashioned or does it connect?”

So, below, I will put the video and the lyrics. I know not everyone likes country music, but don’t let that sway your decision one way or the other.

You know there’s a light that glows by the front door
Don’t forget the key’s under the mat
Childhood stars shine, always stay humble and kind
Go to church ’cause your momma says to
Visit grandpa every chance that you can
It won’t be wasted time
Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door, say please, say thank you
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got mountains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When the dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kind

Don’t expect a free ride from no one
Don’t hold a grudge or a chip and here’s why
Bitterness keeps you from flyin’
Always stay humble and kind
Know the difference between sleeping with someone
And sleeping with someone you love
“I love you” ain’t no pick up line so
Always stay humble and kind

Hold the door, say please, say thank you
Don’t steal, don’t cheat, and don’t lie
I know you got mountains to climb but
Always stay humble and kind
When those dreams you’re dreamin’ come to you
When the work you put in is realized
Let yourself feel the pride but
Always stay humble and kind

When it’s hot, eat a root beer popsicle
Shut off the AC and roll the windows down
Let that summer sun shine
Always stay humble and kind
Don’t take for granted the love this life gives you
When you get where you’re goin
Don’t forget turn back around
And help the next one in line
Always stay humble and kind

Your Turn: So, please answer my wife’s question? Do you think these line are corny or do they have real meaning? Is this old fashioned or does it connect with you?”

  1. Honestly, this isn’t corny this generation has lost track on how to really treat others and stay “Humble and Kind” I still follow everything i was taught how to respect women, elders. I feel like people kinda dont understand how to be nice and how much something soo little can make such a huge impact in someones life.

  2. The title “always stay humble and kind” speaks at volumes. I don’t think it is corny, i believe that it has a very deep meaning to it. Being humble and kind will take you far in life, rather than being rude to everyone which gets you no where in life. The theme of not taking your life for granted is something that everyone around should live by.

  3. I think that these words are not corny at all. I think that they are actually an extremely important message today. As a society, we have become all about ourselves: what we can do for ourselves, what we can get for ourselves, and what we can do to make ourselves look good. We don’t take enough time to think about what we can do for others or how we can help others. It’s as simple as saying hi to someone, smiling at them, or holding the door for someone, and yet we don’t take the 3 seconds to do that. I think it’s a good reminder of manners that we should have and are sadly slowly losing.

  4. In my opinion, I feel that these lyrics do have real meaning. It may be “old fashioned” but it does connect to the world today. Teens today do not seem to understand that being polite is always something that should be done. I know that many people understand it and are willing to use kindness but others just seem to ignore it and are not willing to use kindness because they expect things to be handed to them.

  5. I think that Staying humble and Kind does still matter. The lyrics aren’t corny, because they tell a great lesson for life. People just take advantage of things and just pass on by this message. It connects with me, I thank God for everything I have and I try to be very humble about it. Why not be kind all the time? That shouldn’t even be a question.

  6. I think the words have a real meaning to it. I think every word has a meaning to it. I think this connects to everyone because people don’t really know how to be humble and kind. People need to learn how to be humble and kind. There are to many people that are selfish. It’s not that hard to be kind to one other. Picture if everyone was humble and kind, how would our world look like?

  7. I do not think this song is corny or old fashioned. It is relevant and I think many people can learn from it. The lyrics have real meaning and it connects to me. People have forgotten how easy it is to be truly kind to one another and very seldom people are humble now a days. It is so simple and easy to just be a nice and humble person and it makes yourself and others around you feel happier.

  8. These lyrics do have real meaning. In today’s day and age, ideals like being humble and kind are considered by many to be “corny”. This song can connect with any single person; it does not matter if you believe it to be old fashioned or not because it is asking us to act a certain way.

  9. I definitely believe this song still resonates with the youth. The theme of not taking your life for granted and remaining true to yourself is a universal and timeless message. I believe these messages can be applied to anyone and everyone’s life. No matter your race, gender, or beliefs we can all relate to the lyrics of this song. I do not find these lines corny, but rather see them as a heart-felt message to people across the world. Remaining humble and kind no matter where you go in life should be desired by everyone. Therefore, I believe there is a strong connection between the youth and this song.

  10. I think the lyrics to the song Always stay humble and kind are not corny. Because it is a good life lesson.

  11. I think this song has a very good meaning. If everyone could be humble and kind we would have a much better world.

  12. I think that these lines are not corny and that they speak the truth. It’s always good to be reminded not to sin and to be the best that you can be. This song connects with me, most definitely.

  13. I don’t think these lines are corny. I think that people often think that lines like these are corny because our society has neglected the terms “humble” and “kind”. Our society, especially the younger generations have focused on other aspects of personality and leadership. Today kids think it’s cool to be mean or to boast, which is why when they are presented with the lines “stay humble and kind” they laugh as if they truly are corny. These terms aren’t corny to me, they just aren’t seen as much today. I think being humble and kind should be first on society’s agenda rather than focusing on things that are not considered “corny”. Staying humble and kind does have a real meaning, and the meaning needs to be recognized with greater value.

  14. I think that a lot of people can relate to these lyrics and the only reason people would think it’s corny is because they are afraid to show their emotions. It’s a good reminder of who we should strive to be everyday.

  15. I don’t think its corny or old fashioned. In this generation children and teenagers don’t do things like that are in the song. Tim McGraw’s song is such a good example for teens. We need to start appreciating what we have till we lose it all. We need to strive to be a better age group and set an example for the younger generation.

  16. This song is not corny. People need to be reminded that we all have emotions, today’s day everyone forgets all manners and such, this song is a good reminder for us.

  17. No, I do not think these lines are corny what so ever this song is important to listen to as a reminder that everyone should remember the important things in life in order to live a good life as in having manners and taking others feelings seriously. This connects with me because I think we should all be kind and send out positive vibes rather then negative ones.

  18. No, I don’t think these lines are corny this song should remind that they should treat others with respect and its a good life lesson.

  19. I don’t think this song is corny. This song should remind teens that it’s still good to be respectful and have manners to older figures in our life.

  20. “Humble and Kind”, is the kind of music this generation needs. Not only does it speak positively through its lyrics, but it also gives you an idea of how life should be and how you should portray yourself as a person. This song can encourage others to do better for themselves and of course to stay humble and kind. In order to receive someones respect you are expected to carry these two qualities among yourself. Being humble is a good trait to have, and so is being kind so this song is sending a good message to all who decides to listen to this song. Personally, it doesn’t sound “corny” or what others describe it as being. This society is just so used to explicit music that influences a negative lifestyle unfortunately..

  21. I dont think its corny. This really is not addressed in the world anymore. Everyone just cares about themselves and forget about the other people around them. We need to have a little more time outside our own world and look around to see what is happening around us.

  22. I don’t think the lyrics are corny. I think the song teaches great lessons and everyone should know and practice these lessons.

  23. I don’t these lyrics are corny at all. I think this song teaches a life lesson about being humble and kind to others. The humble and kind are needed in our world. Song talks about right and wrong choices and that if making the right choice, hard work and effort put into that good choice will pay off eventually. Therefore this song pertains to our society and connects with me personally.

  24. This song isn’t corny, and has an important message. Many people forget that everyone has emotions and thoughts, and are also human beings. The song does a good job on telling people to work towards success, and let the success speak for you rather than bragging about your success.

  25. This song does not relate to kids alone but to everyone around us. It has wonderfully deep meaning and you do get emotional. This song will never become old and will be applicable to all generations.
